SweetSoil Seasonal Lavender is dried and packed carefully to preserve the whole leaf for your every use.
SweetSoil Seasonal Lavender is locally sourced culinary lavender harvested during its short New England season, carefully dried in small batches, and preserved for use throughout the year.
Lavender has a floral, lightly sweet aroma with subtle herbal notes. A little goes a long way, making it especially useful in baked goods, beverages, desserts, and dishes where a gentle floral accent adds something unexpected.
A few obvious options for Seasonal Lavender are:
Some not-so-obvious applications are:
Lavender can become overpowering when used too heavily, so we recommend starting with a small amount and adding more as needed.
For baking or finer applications, lightly crush or grind the dried buds before use. For teas, syrups, and infusions, the buds can be steeped whole and strained before serving.
Our Seasonal Lavender begins with culinary lavender sourced from local farms and certified gardens when Cape Ann and the surrounding region are in bloom.
Lavender has a relatively brief harvest window in New England, which makes preserving it especially worthwhile. By drying the flowers soon after harvest and working in small batches, we can capture their fragrance at a point much closer to when they were growing in the field.
Because this is a seasonal agricultural product, its color, aroma, variety, and intensity may change slightly from one harvest to the next.
We think those differences are part of the point.
Rather than making every batch exactly the same, Seasonal Lavender reflects the place, weather, growers, and particular moment in the season when it was harvested.
